MMK Reunion + MV Logos Hope

Hello!
It had been quite a long time for not updating my blog already.
Thought of wanna write something about the CC dinner and Pharmacy Annual Gathering 2011 which I attended last week, but due to some circumstances (actually just lazy la..), so if you would like to know more about those two events, please go to my fb profile and have a look on the photos I snapped k :D

Few days ago (7/10/2011), MMK had organized a reunion dinner at New Famosa Restaurant, SS2.
Initially I was not being able to attend the dinner because my class until 7.30pm that day.
Thanks Claire for persuading me to go, or else I gonna miss the chance to catch up with some friends.
Although only about 30 mmkians attended, we were like didn't meet for years and chat from the beginning to the end.

Souvenir of the day ^^

How about the food? It was a Taiwanese cuisine restaurant, so the foods were kinda nice for me.
I am not sure if this will be the last reunion dinner we have, hope more to come in future :)

On following day, I went on a big ship at Port Klang!
Haha, I didn't go for a cruise tour but I visited a book fair on the ship called MV Logos Hope.

From far distance

You can see the crowds :p

For your information, this ship is mainly on charity purposes.
Bringing knowledge, help and hope is her slogan.
She is sailing from port to port in the world, to offer the first-hand aid and relief to those needed. Besides, every crew member on deck has a story to share with you.
For instance, I met a cashier from Hungary, who is named Viktor Szabo. He talked to everyone he met. I bet he is the best cashier I ever met, haha.

A brief introduction at the entrance

Since this ship travelling to different countries with different currencies, thus the book prices are offered in Logos hope unit (100 units = RM8)
Other than reading books, you can have some snacks at i-cafe  when you're tired of walking around :)

It's chill out time :D

We had a muffin and a big cookie

I love this part to the most.
It was something like story telling.
As we passed by the pictures, the speakers told us the story behind.

Happy ending ^^

For me, it was quite a good experience. As in you can shop for books here, meanwhile helping people by donating money.
Here are some snapshots we did, hehe.

Their history

This is funny XD

This is lagi funny XD

Going by public transport:
1. Take KTM from KL Sentral to Port Klang
2. Take shuttle bus from Port Klang KTM station to jetty

REMINDER:
This book fair will last till 23 Oct 2011 only. So, please don't miss the chance before the ship left to other countries k :D

MMK Power !!!

It was hard to express my feeling when I saw this from Facebook yesterday morning.

Hi every beloved MMKiians. I feel sorry to announce a sad news here. Unfortunately our new Mts 11/12 batch have decided to abolish MMK project. Although the project is terminated, but the MMK spirit is still persist. Lets thanks MMK for giving us so many sweet memories and let us get know to so many cute friends. Thanks MMK!!!
MMK, POWER forever!!!!
-by Zen (Director of MMK 09/10)

MMK (Minggu Minda Kreatif) is an annual event organized by Second Residential College in University Malaya.
It had been 10 years since the first launch of this project.
It was also the first project I joined during my first year in UM until holding the position of marketing director in second year.
To be honest, it was kinda unbelievable that our batch became the last batch of MMK.

Too many factors brought MMK to this end.
The management of college, the manpower problems, the new rules of college...
It is sad to say, but there's no point to continue this project since there's not many juniors left in Second Residential College to run for it.
Or, perhaps our batch did not do well until the college administration tried so hard to terminate our project?
Nobody knows.

MMK gave me a lot of memories and gave me chances to know a lot of people.
I will keep those in my mind eternally.
I am not sure if we still have any opportunity to meet in future, but please do say "Hi" if you see me somewhere else, as I will remember you! : )

Finally, We Came to The End

After the whole semester of preparation, finally MMK 2010/2011 had officially ended. Yesterday was the closing ceremony of MMK.

It is kinda hard for me to describe my feeling in words. Initially, I thought "relief" is the only word to come into my mind once MMk is ended as I don't have to bother those marketing stuffs anymore. However, it changed right at the moment when Jacob(our multimedia director) still continued his "never-give-up-spirit" in rendering his multimedia clip even though he had failed thrice. He did not manage to show it up on the time we had planned, but he still able to make it in the end of the event and showed to everyone who were still there. Salute to Jacob!! Because of this small incident, I changed my way of thinking: everyone also worked very hard for MMk and not myself only, then why I still have put my blame on those marketing stuffs?

Back to one semester before, the time when I was the first time to get involved into marketing department and took the job of being a marketing director. Honestly, in the beginning, I don't really enjoy the process to deal with those companies just to get something, or sometimes even nothing. T-shirt selling, dedication, marketing drive...those works were far more challenging than what I had expected. Problems can be appeared at anytime and anywhere. There was a period of time when I was totally collapsed and had no more idea on how to continue with my job. Thanks to everyone who gave me supports that time to drag me back to the right path and made me became stronger.

MMK family outing, booth setting, marketing drive and etc were those memorable moments I had came across with along the period of joining this project. I am not a good marketing director, or good leader, either. I do really appreciate the supports from MTs and juniors. For instance, my department members who helped me a lot in calling sponsors, some MTs like jacob and alvin who helped me a lot during the hardest time of dedication (Jacob also helped me to send the banner for printing and almost got lost at Jalan Pudu..:p), Claire who helped me a lot in T-shirt dealing, khai kent who fetched me to the shop of our booklet sponsor for few times...

I'm so sorry to everyone for unable to be a good marketing director and many things had gone haywire due to the "not-well-planned" process. I have to admit that I am not a good marketing director (perhaps the worst) and not even able to get the amount of money that we had expected.

Anyway, thanks for giving me this chance to learn. I had learned a lot. :)
P/S: I prefer photoshop more than marketing actually :p

Marketing Drive II

Sometimes, marketing drive can be something that is very interesting, especially when you meet some people who are interesting.
I met one this morning
.

me: Uncle, we are from University Malaya, can you support our project which is called "Minggu Minda Kreatif"?

Uncle: Can, but we can afford in small amount la...

Me: (I hadn't say thank you yet, the uncle continue to speak..)

Uncle: You're taking pharmacy ar? I tell you, don't be so silly la, pharmacy cannot earn much money one. Go further study and become lecturer where the salary is much higher...

Me: .......

Uncle: I don't understand why so many people competing to become a doctor. After 10 years, maybe your friend (pointing to siew yin, an Econ student, who is standing beside me) is richer than you..

Haha, I was really speechless that time. What I can do is only agree with him and say " yes, it's true" :p

In the end of Marketing Drive

I have been always have a feeling that I am not a good marketing director of MMK, for being lazy and procrastinating all the time. ( this is the fact)
I guess people also having the same opinion as I do.
Yet, after bunches of problems and obstacles in process of preparing marketing drive, we made it a success yesterday!!!woohoo~
It's my not own effort only, but this success belongs everyone. =)

After struggling for few months, finally MMK come to the end.
Initially, i thought i will be very happy because i don't have to burn midnight oil for preparation anymore. Yet, after the closing ceremony last night, my feeling can hardly be described with few words. Perhaps i really like this project.Especially the undoubtedly bonds between people. Although at the same time there were some people who made me feel unhappy, it was overed and no use for me to recall it.
Maybe because of i don't really have good leadership, so along this period of time, what i really enjoyed in joining MMK were the time to use photoshop as well as the time of drawing comics and painting. With my personalities, I don't really like the time of arguing with others during discussion. So, better don't ask me about what idea i have but ask me to do something that i really like. MMK power!!=)
