[Food Review] Missing Marbles @ Ipoh Old Town

Hola people, it's been a while since my last update, sorry if I had disappointed anyone of you (Ehem, if and only if there's any).  By the way, this isn't an updated post either, because it's about my Valentine's day celebration, which was a week ago =.=

Since both of us were working on 14 Feb, so we postponed our celebration one day after.  To be honest, Valentine's day is just another day for me and we do not have to wait for this day to love, so yea, a simple celebration is more than enough for me.  After scratching head to decide where to have our lunch, we found this cafe via Google and I was attracted immediately by those decent photos.

Missing Marbles located at Ipoh old town.  If you heard of Burps and Giggles, they are just in the same row. Stepping into this cafe reminded me of my childhood.  The hopscotch, worn walls, origami fortune tellers and school-tables-look-alike, gave me a sudden feeling of getting back to my old school.

And the menu is hanging on the wall!

Talking about the food, Missing Marbles is selling Asian delights, from Japanese ramen to mee siam.  There is a dish called "Chap a lang" too, which means mixing everything together in cantonese.  Should have tried this, I just notice it from my photo above, LOL!

My Calrose rice (RM15) with minced chicken and tofu, topped with hanjuku egg, seaweed shreds, sesame and katsuobushi

His hakata ramen (RM18) with slices of lamb

Our esprits
Frankly speaking, I wasn't really impressed by the food.  The taste was just average and not many options available.  The price is affordable but not really worthwhile after all. Would love if they offer some hot drinks like coffee or tea other just coke, esprit, soy bean and juices. It would be a nice place to enjoy some quiet moment then.

Till then, see you next time!

Thanks for reading! :))

New Year, New Hope

Hi lovelies, it's the 5th day of year 2014, I hope you have a great start of the year.  It took me some time to look back year 2013, in a serious manner, which actually explains why this post is completed so late while most bloggers had done their new year post.  To me, it was a dramatic year with a lot of unpredictable happenings especially during the period of doing my final year research project.  Meanwhile, it was an important year to me too since I had ended my 17-year study life and leaped onto a new chapter - working life.

Looking back the new year resolutions of year 2013:

To change externally.
Well, I guess my skin condition had much improved after having a long break at home.  There are less acne popping out, not sure if it was due to the overdosing nutrients I gained from home cooked food or I'm getting older. Haha!  It's good in either way I think.

To change internally.
1. To think more positively and with more wisdom - I am thinking in a more positive way now but still there's room for improvement.
2. To socialize more and meet more new people - Joined a few Nuffnang events this year and got to know some new people too, so I consider it as an achievement.
3. To improve my English level - Read 3 books this year (The last song, PS I Love You and Eat Pray Love), this is an achievement too!
4. To improve my guitar skill - Learned to play some new songs, instead of keep playing kid's song.  I will upload on Youtube if I'm free next time.
5. To travel more - Traveled to Taiwan, Penang and Malacca, wish to have more in this year!

So basically I had achieved most of my resolutions in previous year, what about this year?

When I was in high school, my new year resolution was to study hard and get into a good university;
When I was in university, my new year resolution was to study hard and get a degree.
Now I'm working, so my new year resolution is to keep my passion in working and rekindle it if I'm losing it.

話說才工作不到一個月就開始厭倦了,還真不應該啊!

Besides, wish I can enjoy my live more and to treasure what I'm having.  Keep the negative thoughts away and explore the new side of myself.  Be beautiful and confident!  Not to forget, spend more time with the love ones.

Let's kill the Monday blues tomorrow and keep fighting!

Fighting!!!!

Food Review: Stan & Brew Roast Coffee, Ipoh

Happy new year people!  Feeling hungover after countdown party last night?  It's been a while since the last time I blogged, so sorry for the long hiatus! My life is getting dull and dull these days, my daily routines are nothing other than working, eating and sleeping.  Duh.  Anyway, there was something different last Sunday because I went tried out a new cafe in Ipoh with bf!  I gotta thank him so much since I had been craving for nice food so long.  For your information, the most "luxury" in Slim River (where I'm working currently) is KFC, you can imagine how suffering a foodie to live here. Lol.

I shall stop nagging and let's get back to topic.  Haha!

There are so many new cafes popping up in Ipoh recently, Stan & Brew Roast Coffee is one of them.  It was newly opened few months ago, located at Soho Ipoh, somewhere near to Sam Tet school.  Stepping into this cafe, I was like "wow, such a beautiful place!".  The brick wall, the lighting, the sofas, the Christmas decoration and the most important - coffee aroma, gave us a warm welcome.

Love the clean and tidy interior

Bye-bye Christmas, hello new year!

There are wide varieties of food which you can choose from.  For instance, spaghetti, steaks, chicken chops, fish fillet, sandwiches and desserts.  Stan and Brew has their own roasted coffee too, so make sure you do not miss out if you have chance to visit here next time.

His hot mocha

My hot cappuccino
It was so smooth and tasted really good.
Unfortunately the air conditioner there was too strong, it turned cold just in a while.

Starter - Wild mushroom soup
Taste average, to me it was really concentrated.

His Herbs chicken chop

My New York fish and chips
It tastes like most ordinary fish and chips, however it was too fishy for me even though I had squeezed damn a lot of lemon juice onto it.

Highlight of the day - Plant dessert!
Cute isn't it?
I shall not reveal much about this dessert and let you yourself go try it out next time!
Us =)

Conclusion:
The main courses in this cafe are just average, not really impressive though.  Yet, you shall try their coffee and dessert because they successfully satisfied my crave for nice food!  The ambiance is good as well, not really crowded even though it was Sunday.  Good enough to order a cup of coffee and enjoy some quite moment here.
Price range: For main course RM20-30, for coffee is around RM10.

Dayre - Blogging From Phone

Hello lovely readers, I have an important announcement to make today.  After leaving university for few months, finally I'm going to start working soon!  For your information, every pharmacy fresh graduates in Malaysia, no matter from local or private university need to be trained as provisionally registered pharmacist (PRP) for 1 year and serve under government hospitals for at least 1 year before getting a pharmacist license.  I've been waiting for my posting letter for quite some times until few days ago, it was really nervous at the moment of receiving the letter from postman 0.0.  Thanks God, I got my posting in Perak, a state where I was born and raised!  For more details, please stay tune for my next blog post okay!

Anyway, let's back to topic.  I believe many people had already came across with this phone application called "Dayre".  It's an app for blogging! To me, it brings a new level of blogging after keeping this blog for years.  "I found like the best app to blog from the phone!", said Xiaxue, the famous blogger.  This app is so simple to use and very addictive.  Within a few minutes, a blog post is done, everyone can be a blogger now!

What can you do with Dayre?

1. Write whatever you wish
Example:  Telling your readers how happy are you after winning a lucky draw!

 2. Upload photo by choosing from existing folder or directly snap using camera.
Example:  Snap the photo of the dessert you're having now and share how tasty it is with your readers.

 3. Upload video by choosing from existing folder or record via video recorder on the spot.
Example: Tell your readers how cool the concert you're in!

 4. Describe you moment with the cute stickers.
Example: Pick the sticker from the right bottom corner as seen in picture above and tell the whole world you're in love!

5.  Last but not least, you can check in you current location too!
(Of course this is never a great idea to reveal your location all the time, who knows you gonna be the next target of kidnapper? Lol)

Since I'm going to start working soon, I might not be able to update this blog really often.  Therefore, Dayre gonna be a new platform for me to share my life events.
This app is available in both app store and Google Play, come and join me in blogging!

This is my account, search "janejanefong" to reach me!

Ps: I'll upload more selfies and chinese language post there ;)
